My Work

Hello! in the source community I go by wumpus

My expertise in the realm of Sourcemods lies primarily in programming, as demonstrated in my contributions to the Arsenio project, as well as a number of unannounced projects including Hollow Point and Heat Convection.

This page acts as a way for me to showcase my source projects, and will be updated accordingly.

Arsenio

I have recently joined the Arsenio team and, as a result, my contributions to the project are relatively limited in quantity at this time.

Skydome

I was tasked with integrating a Skydome shader into the Arsenio platform, as demonstrated in the attached link. This shader was originally derived from a Vance shader, which was in turn adapted from a Shadertoy shader. However, a considerable amount of modification was required to suit our branch of Source, such as the inclusion of checks for water, as the rendering of water caused issues with the sky.

Devtools

I have a keen interest in source modding and find great pleasure in re-implementing older VGUI tools using the Qt framework. At present, I am occupied with a comprehensive overhaul of the SDK authoring tools, and am making progress on a tool for generating color correction. While Arsenio does not necessitate the use of specifically designed development tools, I have included it in this category as I am the proprietor of the website.

Heat Convection

As the lead programmer for HC, I have been occupying this position since 2022. My primary focus lies in the realm of backend programming and gameplay modifications, rather than visually appealing features. As an example, I have recently integrated soldiers equipped with customizable gas canisters into the game, which can be edited using Valve's Hammer Editor

In addition to my programming work, I have gained recognition for my efforts in re-implementing the Source compiler tools, particularly vrad and vbsp. My focus in this area has been primarily on optimization, as demonstrated in the Hollow Point branch of vrad, where I successfully reduced vrad processing times by approximately 25-30%.

I am not confident in my current level of skill and believe that there is substantial room for improvement. I am aware of my potential for growth, which is why I consider myself to be relatively unskilled.
